With voting today, the Zoning Law could affect 40,000 properties in São Paulo.
The revision of São Paulo's Zoning Law could allow 42,691 properties to be replaced by larger buildings, according to a survey by the ZeroCem Institute—an organization dedicated to research on urban issues. The vote is scheduled for 3 p.m. today.
What happened
The properties identified in the study are up to three stories high and are located within transportation hubs. Hubs are areas within a radius of up to 400 meters from bus lanes or up to 700 meters from train and subway stations. The proposal allows these areas to accommodate larger buildings than currently permitted.
